I am not sure who is into wholesale but was wondering if anyone did either on of the two wholesale shows in Las Vegas,. NV a week or so ago. I would love to hear from anyone who did the shows or show.
Sorry about the zero. I was curious, cause i did the show 3 years ago. I did ok but not worth going back too. I also attended a class on how to sell to galleries. ( forget that) It was a waste of time. I hope you are doing arts and crafts shows. I hope you told the promotor what you thought of the announcements that were made during the show. They have to hear that. thanks for letting me know.
I did the ACRE show - my first time - and it is my understanding that that week of shows in Las Vegas is nick-named "Jewelry Week". There were about 5 other shows going on in LV that were entirely jewelry so, duh, there should have been lots of jewelry at Niche and ACRE (WholesaleCrafts.com). No problem with that (plus, that is my category). I was expecting to see ALL jewelry and was surprised that other entries were being shown.
In any case, it was dead. I agree that the promoters were fine people and were attentive, but they did announce mid-second day that the attendance was down 20% at that point and encouraged the vendors to be on time, be attentive, etc. Firstly, I thought that kind of announcement shouldn't be on the PA system for all to hear - it should have been for vendors' ears only. Secondly, I feel a little scammed about signing up in the first place because if the attendance was down then, their previous shows' attendance had to have been pretty horrible, too. And, they must have known that. Attendance was so bad that it was a joke. I am very happy for any of the exhibitors that made sales. I did zero.
thanks for the update. i did hear there were way too many jewelers. was thinking of doing wholesalecrafts.com show, did it three years ago and thought wholesale shows were very depressing so now only do craft show. thanks i guess i did not miss anything
I was in the one-of-a-kind area. If I do the show again, I would not pick that category... couldn't show reproductions.
The hall was filled with exhibitors - a LOT of jewelry, a LOT of glass - ridiculous amounts.
I heard from almost everyone that Orlando is MUCH better.
Traffic was extremely slow - and the show is too long.
I ended up with a connection that just might be a huge boost for me - their order made it worth it!
That said, the wholesale crafts people did everything right. Doing a trade show is a different animal, but they work with you, answer the phones, email you- give you ALL the tools you need. I was very impressed with them from that standpoint, I just wish there were more buyers...I spent too much time talking to other artists or reading...
