The outdoor art fair season is winding down throughout the northern part of the country, nonetheless there are plenty to find.

This weekend's biggie is the Plaza Art Fair in Kansas City, MO, a wonderful event that brings out the KC glitterati to see and be seen AND take home some braggable art - "oh yes, I bought it at the Plaza..."

Here are a couple of articles about the show:

I'm going to be in Grand Rapids, MI, attending the gala Art Prize. Don't know about this extravaganza? Check it out here: http://www.artprize.org

And you? What's up?

  • No shows this weekend but doing custom work for a client...301653756?profile=RESIZE_320x320

  • I'm at Arts in the Heart of Augusta, nice show lots of ppl, park behind your booth.
    • Yes it's in Ga, we had rain Saturday night but other than that it was a great show. They are very active on fb and upload show pics every day. The volunteers are really visible all during the show. The way the show is set up each booth has a corner can't beat that. It caters to a younger crowd if you have a conservative item you won't do well there. Funky seems to do best there.
    • Is that in Augusta, GA? Parking behind your booth is always a perk.

  • Even more about shows this weekend:

Plaza Art Fair in Kansas Cityhttp://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/news/2013/09/19/hundreds-of-a... I like that they are covering the show in the "business section." Very cool.

Park Forest Art Fair in Park Forest, ILhttp://southtownstar.suntimes.com/entertainment/22631393-421/park-f...

A show we did at least 25 times returns to Birmingham, MI, Common Ground Art Fairhttp://birmingham.patch.com/groups/around-town/p/common-ground-art-... I know a bunch of you will be there.

  • We're waiting for the fall season to kick in, so we're doing a small show in New York State about 30 miles west of Saratoga at a cider mill. New York apples are in full swing and the tour busses are at the orchards. There are hayrides out to the trees and it makes for a fun time for all. Especially now that the fall colors are starting to come out.

    • This sounds like a busman's holiday almost, Chris. The lovely season, a low key show and money in the pockets. Hope this is a good one for you.

  • My summer shows and show season in Colorado is over. Sloan's Lake last weekend was canceled because of rain and flooding and I canceled on Elk Fest in Estes Patk because of the flood. They decided to do a scaled back version but I cannot see that anyone in town would be thinking about art purchases, 3 hour drive in on only open road, limited places to stay, and the call is out for volunteers to muck mud. I am back to my studio routine of finishing up art show orders, finishing three trick saddles, starting to build inventory for 2014, and waiting for this winter's restoration work bookings to start coming in after 10/1. Have to start thinking about cutting fire wood too.
    • That was a pretty abrupt ending wasn't it, Dick? When my younger son was just about to take his high school finals they closed the schools here because of flooding, a great ending to that year!

When the Colorado shows got cancelled last weekend I was thinking about the artists. I mean, we are geared to get up and go on the weekends, what do you even do with yourself when a show gets cancelled? Sort of like a snow day when you were little.
