St. James Court Art Fair

I recently got my "not invited" notice to this fair but I really want to attend because my granddaughter lives in Louisville and I want another excuse to go out there and visit for a while. I have heard rumors of other, concurrent fairs that run next to and at the same time as the St James Court. Does anyone out there have more info to share on this subject? Done any of these shows? Anything will help.

Thanks, Kathleen

  • Yes, I did, Connie, and I feel that I know what's happening on the Louisville scene now thanks to all the great responses I received. I just missed the application dates, though for all of them. Since my real motive was to go and visit my granddaughter, I plan to go and do just that and view the fair in person to check it out. That should prove to be loads of fun and will arm me with a better view towards applying, or not, for 2012.
  • Well, then, Nels, since you seem to be the leader in this pack, why don't you go ahead and fill me in yourself? If you have already written on this subject, please direct me to where I can read your past blogs.
  • Ah gee, Kathleen.  I guess Bill is too busy to take the time to write you about the show.
  • Vey astute Bill.  Since I am taking the time to write a blog about this weekend's show, why don't you take the time to fill her in on St.  James?  After all you are a true vet of the show.  Just a thought my friendly "Little Critter."
  • I also wanted to do this show because of a "personal" reason and I was also looking to do a show out of the northeast as we don't do many shows or travel very much.  I checked around and, although I applied to both St. James and Fourth Street, was told by several artists that they preferred Fourth Street even though it's not as "prestigious" as St. James Court.  I did not get into St. James Court, did get into 4th Street. I had a terrific show, the foot traffic is heavy for all four shows and a lot of people come to "spend."  One of my first customers was from Dallas, flies in every year for the show and she gave me a large order to have shipped.   Good luck!!!!  Ann

  • Nels is the only one I know of who does that.  You've probably read a remark or two he's made to people who haven't read one of his blogs on a subject and remembered enough details to score at least 80 on a pop quiz.
  • Welcome to you on your virgin post, Kathleen. We're glad to have you here...see folks, it's easy. No one will bite. Let me rephrase that, if it is a question that has been asked and answered you might get some snide and sarcastic remarks... not from me, but from some of the other gatekeepers.

This was a good question. Come again, Kathleen.

  • My word, you folks are fantastic! I have been reading the AFI blogs for a few months now, fascinating! But I have never written one myself. Thank you all SO MUCH for responding. I really do feel like I'm part of a great group!
  • Nels had a great blog after the last show he did there.  He is very diligent in patrolling the blogs and when he reads yours he'll tell you where to go to find that report he did for the 2010 show.
