Malibu Art Festival was maybe the 5th show I have ever done. I did not sell anything and the word was that not many other participants sold anything either, a couple people that I talked to said they would not be coming back. However, there was a consistent crowd on both days and the weather was beautiful (hot!) which kept me hopeful. Booth setup was really close, literally 10 feet x 10 feet...touching the booths on either side. It looked liked there was alot of really nice artwork there and also alot of different artists from the ones I have been seeing around. It seemed pretty well organized...volunteers stopped at all booths to give bathroom breaks, setup was okay (other than the proximity to neighboring booths). Only about two actual food trucks and some drink trucks..(fancy fruit drinks). The bathrooms were the absolute worst I have experienced in my art fair life...porta potty's with non-flushing toilets. Surprisingly, I had a good time meeting other artists and "non"-buyers. I'm not sure I would do it again tho... The highlight of the weekend was my husband having his picture taken with Dick van Dyke, whose grandson had a booth there.
I'll be doing the show this weekend. for the first time. I heard from an artist at the last fair I did that he did well last year in Malibu and planned on coming back.
i heard from a friend who does the show that the buy sell is below and the art is up above. if you do the show could you let me know how it was am thinking of doing it 2012. good luck
