Yeah, I don't know what's with the wait lists this year. I'm on a few myself. Southlake, Jackson Hole, Renaissance (didn't get the call, and it's probably ok), Austin (got in, but declined it), Lake Forest...
I'm wondering if maybe shows are building bigger wait lists because so many artists are hesitating about the cost of traveling long distances, and bailing at the last minute. I know my schedule has me driving all over hell and gone, and it's costing me a small fortune. What was I thinking when I booked these shows? LOL! It's very very hard to build a coherent travel schedule around wait lists.
In July I have Boston Mills and Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair (Guild Show) for certain. I'm on the wait list for Madison's Art On The Square and on the wait list for Geneva Art Fair in Geneva, IL. So far this year I've been placed on 10 wait lists and have been called off of 3 of them.
July, lots of painting. Going to Door County for the Plein Air painting Festival, last weekend of the month. Tremendous spectator sport and wonderful support for the art of painting. It was good for my soul last summer. I'll be in Hinsdale again too. Nels, see you there! Lets do sushi again!
I got Boston Mills, Krasl and Cedar Falls,IA. In August got Uptown Minneapolis, ArtStreet in Green Bay, waiting to hear from Lexington,in June got Columbus,Hinsdale and Nashville (American Artisans)--plan on making some serious moola. Got AB&E in September along with Birmingham, waiting to hear on St. Louis.
Just got our notice that we've been accepted for Choochakam Arts Fest on Whidbey Island, for those of you who aren't familiar with WA, that's a large island off our west coast that is artistically minded with a strong "buy local" mindset, lots of second homes, vaction rentals, etc. Love it!! This will be our 3rd year, fun art festival put on by the local arts council, not always the best organized, but super nice people with good intentions and an organization that is really wanting to make this work for their island and the artists. Then a weekend off and then our first time ever being accepted into the Sequim (pronounced sqim) Lavendar festival that we've heard great reports from other local artists. Still wating on the final notice for the last weekend of July, hoping once more for the road trip to Eastern WA with wonderfully warm temps in a city that only has one real art festival each summer. This is THE best month of the year in WA, looking forward to the sunshine!
I got my Cain Park notice a day or so ago. Waitlist. Snail mail. The organizers are very very nice, and the show is well-attended. Never a huge money-maker, but the artist treatment is stellar. If it doesn't rain, it'll be good.
So far my only show in July is Ann Arbor - the Original.
I am flying from FL to Atlantic City, then doing Stone Harbor's Wings 'n Water Wildlife Art Festival midweek, Haddonfield that weekend, and then Loveladies...assuming I get into the latter two. Then I'll fly home to restock for two weeks before kicking off August.
Can't possibly be 100 degrees all summer in the Northeast again...can it??? LOL
Yes, they sent a snail mail to notify me of my acceptance. I am still reviewing the show but a review by Jim Parker points me more towards the positive side. http://www.artfairinsiders.com/profiles/blogs/the-20th-annual-cain-... . Its the same weekend as Central PA state college.

Yes. Heard that it was not as well attended this year, for whatever reason, but that the show is well-run.
Jim, Did you mean Renaissance in Ridgeland?
