What are the best things about art fairs

Brings in people to view my work Connections to other artists on what shows are good Ability to be among fellow artisans

Best show ever and why

Green Lake, WI Wonderful people, strong city support, not a extremely large show but brought out real art buyers, didn't have to negotiate on price, excellent fair layout, awards

Worst show ever and why

Hayward, WI. These shows that are Art and Crafts may as well be called crafts and crap shows. Jurying is a joke, as buy and sell is common, placing people at the wrong locations and the crowd was all about low price crafty items.

  • I am a digital artist, that is I use photographs, film or digital, as the basis of my art. My photos are first "wiped clean" of details and then I spend many hours reconstructing the image with other detail that I feel is appropriate to the work. Such as trees or people or leaves on trees as well as color. As a painter you do the same thing, you choose what your image composition is going to contain. Your final product is one of a kind which could sell for thousands of dollars and have a "signed" edition of 1000 prints selling for possibly hundreds of dollars each. My images require in depth knowledge of the digital programs I am using, not just a good copy person as you stated. A very large out lay of money for equipment, and consumables like ink paper and canvas is also required. In the end, I don't have a single "one of a kind" image to sell, only a signed edition of may be 50 images. My images are genuine giclees on archival paper or canvas with pigment ink. These raw supplies cost more that what the supplies for an oil or acrylic cost. Now while my art is not painting, ist is also not photography, but it is still art.
