I was awarded a blue ribbon for painting at a juried event by one of the few remaining (at the time) well-known African American painters of the Depression Era, Edward Loper Sr.

Mark, as a follow-up to your blog around jewelry and fiber, there is a regional show in Bluffton, SC (adjacent to Hilton Head) that does not accept jewelry or wearable fiber. It's a bit of a drive for you but if you're headed down to Pensacola or one of the other shows, it's a sweet show even if it does have the word 'Seafood' in the title.
