I am inexperienced with selling at art fairs and have many questions. I have plans to sell at two shows later this year. I'm also a marketing student at Franklin University. I have an assignment for my consumer behavior class. The assignment is to conduct research into consumer behavior that would improve or create sales. I chose to write about how I might sell jewelry to men.
From browsing art fairs around Ohio in the past, it appears most art jewelry is targeted toward women. Is this true? Do you think there are opportunities in the male jewelry market? If so, what personality types do you think would most likely buy art jewelry?
(Connie said to post this on the left. Hopefully I got it in the right place!)

There is a large market for men's jewelry. Sterling, leather, hemp, ripcord bracelets. Leather or beaded chokers. Chain or leather necklaces with or without pendants. Distinctive rings. Turquoise, Tiger Eye, Onyx are popular stones. Religious medals such as St. Christopher. Popular styles are braided leather, heavy sterling silver, biker themes such as skulls, camo, and the braided ripcord. Men's jewelry generally tends to be more durable and worn more as a "totem" rather than as pure decoration.
I like the idea of "totem." I did some in-person surveys for my research. One man told me that his parents are from Africa and that my work looked African. I was pretty excited about that. My original "fine art" theme was to aim for something primal or tribal.
This is a custom order I made from 2 colors of leather cord and 3 Guatemalan Jadeite beads.
Thank you for the photo. That is very helpful. I didn't use leather. I tried some paracord.
Interesting!
I never wear or buy jewelry but I do see men that wear ear rings and also chains around their neck. some wear rings...anything other than that your best bet would be to ask the jewelers at shows. Many of their jewelry pieces might be worn by both men and women.
Why is this posted three times? I replied to one but it doesn't show up on other two. Que lastima!
I'm sorry. I'm new and posted things in the wrong place.
