Easter weekend, not the best weekend for art festivals, so I hope you all are enjoying the break before we all get down to the "big art fair season" which will be heating up as soon as April gets here.

Here is what I found:

Can you help me out on this one? Have any of you attended the St. George Art Festival in St. George, UT? Here's a nice story -- looks like some beautiful work is featured:

I know some of you will be attending this one in Gainesville, FL. I remember participating in this show a few times, the Spring Arts Festival on the shady streets of Gainesville: http://www.gainesville.com/article/20160323/GUARDIAN/160329876&tc=ix

Me? Think I'll take a day off and admire the shoots of daffodils beginning to appear in my Michigan yard. How about you?

  • I got accepted for Golden, CO Sunday night. I have one more to go.

  • I checked Zapp tonight and I got accepted for Art Market Estes Park Memorial Day weekend (Colorado) and Art Fair Jackson Hole, WY in July. Now I'm working on condo/cabin rental. We decided to stay an extra day in Jackson to hike in the Tetons, then do the long haul home in one day rather than go to Saratoga Hot Springs or something else on the way home.

    • Congrats -- have you done Jackson Hole before?

The whole gang going with you?

      • We did the July show for the first time last year. My plan is to do it this year then alternate it with Steamboat Springs, CO. Jackson is 3 days but more expensive to do than 2 day show at Steamboat. I'll have to crunch the net numbers to see if it works. Just Jean and I are going as far as I know.

Jean is a Deacon at church this month, so I am going to the early service then I’ll come home after the mid-services breakfast. I’m stamping the last group of hand carved belts for art shows; my new “Alamosa” design. We had a major blizzard Wednesday, and more snow today. I cut up 1 1/2 cows into all of the straight straps for four saddles today. Tomorrow I’ll sew up a bunch and get others assembled. I’m moving one natural leather saddle ahead of three white ones. I’m waiting on the tree for one of these but I know the tree maker is probably waiting on the bronze horn from the foundry. That’s the way it goes.

    • what are all these white straps?

      • The wide ones are facings for stirrup leathers. They hold the fenders and stirrups on the saddle. The narrow ones are reins, little straps on saddles and tack, and various trick straps. all of these have rolled edges and either leather or leather/nylon cores. Nylon so they won't break while trick rider is hanging off the horse at 30 miles/hour. Canadian pro Roz Beaton using all my stuff. I'm working on a bunch more straps for her and her students.301675879?profile=original

        • Some basic straps are usually bought with a saddle. Others are added and then there are custom straps for tricks performers develop.
        • That is a lot of equipment on that horse, straps, cinches, reins, saddle -- what else? Is all the equipment purchased as a set?
