and a lovely story, Winter Park Art Festival Memories: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/entertainment/arts-and-theater/os-art-events-orlando-20150318-story.html, plus in that article there is a push for Artegon (discussed elsewhere on this site)
And I do believe WAY north of there in Boston CraftBoston takes place this weekend. I've never attended this one but I hear wonderful stories about the work that is there. Presented by the Society of Arts and Crafts, 90 carefully selected artists, more here: http://www.societyofcrafts.org
What else?

Well, I'm going to be sulking, too, thanks to Crosby Art Festival. I've done this show for 9 years, have a really good following there, usually clear about $5000. for that weekend........and they decide I'm not good enough. I know, I know.....we've all been through it and gotten those letters. I've been doing art shows for 47 years, (probably longer than most of you have been alive!) and logically I know it should not get to me....but it does.
It is supposed to be in the 70's here tomorrow. Unheard of in Colorado at 7000'. The snow has melted but winter is not over for us. I will use the sunshine outside to finish fronts and backs of about 100 plain belts for summer art shows. I still have about 90 carved belts to do. I just finished a rush order (3 days) of straps for Cavalia (equestrian cirque soleil) opening in Hong Kong next week. I have to get back to work on three trick saddles as I need the $$$$ for taxes. I have parts for two saddle restorations soaking in the tub and they need to be cleaned. I need to finish then too for $. I really got whacked this year as years losses carried forward finally ran out. I am going to have to pay quarterly too. I guess that is the downside of having a good year.
That is the downside and you're not supposed to complain, my children tell me. It was quite a shock when we stopped doing shows and I started this business to see how few deductions there are. Belts look great. Do you ever leave Colorado? Will our paths ever cross?
I'm still seeing snow outside my window but there are a few crocus too.
I applied to Jackson, WY - July. I net more by staying in Colorado. Those aren't belts, They are various strap trick riders use for standing on horses back, hanging off the side or hanging off the butt; all doing about 30-35 mph. Very specialized stuff.
Ah, you're in good company Scott. I got my Crosby rejection on Friday as well. But, we should be hearing from Maple and Main next week if I'm not mistaken. I did pretty good sales there last year and got an honorable mention, so I'm excited for it this year! Hopefully I'll see you there.
I just received notice of rejection from Crosby today. They did say I was on the waiting list, but I've stopped waiting on wait list notices. I was accepted into a small show over in the Quad Cities on the Illinois-Iowa border, but reading some reviews made it look more like a disaster in the making. I'd rather stay home and work in the garden instead of busting my butt to lose several hundred dollars, so I rejected their invitation.
I just looked at callsforartists.com for that weekend -- want to try the lakefront in New Buffalo, MI? and how adventurous are you, I know you are. There is a a new show in New London, CT, that weekend. The show organizer called me yesterday -- they are really hoping to make it a good one. Call for artists coming out in next week's newsletter. It is a very, very nice neighborhood ... my nephew lives nearby and he is the success story in my family that is full of overachievers.
I just received a rejection from Round the Fountain in Lafayette, IN. Did that one once and it was a good show, but it's been years since I did it. I also received an email from Broad Ripple that I was called off the wait list. Go figure on that one as it's been 15 years trying to get back in after being in it for about 12 years from 1989 to 2001. I've already committed to Francisco's Farm the same weekend, so I'll stay with the one that asked first.
CT is a bit far for me, but the Michigan show sounds like worthwhile checking out. I have to watch it in May and June as almost every weekend has something happening.
