It is a big weekend in art fair land, I'd guess the busiest one all winter long. If you are in Florida you are probably packing your van now and getting a little anxious about the upcoming weekend.
Where will you be? The Big One, Coconut Grove? The nearby one, solid satellite at St. Stephen's Church grounds? A little north in Jupiter at Arti Gras? Uptown Art Expo at its new location in Altamonte Springs? Spending the weekend with Howard in Sarasota? Anywhere else?
Let us know where you'll be so we can find each other.... comment below....

Here is a nice story about Coconut Grove -- as you may recall last year artists were a little bothered because there was an award given for culinary arts (sorry, I don't remember the whole story), so when I came across this story from the Miami New Times - Food as Art, I was prepared to be disappointed. The reporter comes to the Arts festival and what does he/she report on? The food. BUT- not so! This reporter had a great time finding images to back up her story. Take a look at this photo essay: http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/shortorder/2012/02/coconut_grove_art...

I was in NYC - meeting up with a couple that might be able to move my career forward with a gallery/broker in NYC. I moved this fall and so didn't apply to shows for at LEAST 9 months, and if I don't get on it soon, won't have any shows to go to this spring/summer!
Gotta love it -- the news about the Grove is once again the culinary events: http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/shortorder/2012/02/coconut_grove_art...
Too be fair, the article you posted was from the food section of a weekly paper. At least they were writing what they know about.
The show this year has top quality art. Report to follow after I go back on Monday.
Here's a nice look at what is happening in south Florida: the International Boat Show and Coconut Grove Art Festival -- this is this area's biggest winter weekend. President's day weekend brings everyone out to enjoy the holiday weekend: http://www.wsvn.com/news/articles/local/21006721836438/art-boat-sho...
Here's a cursory story about Coconut Grove from the Sun-Sentinel in case you don't have any background on the event: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/entertainment/sfl-coconut-grove-arts-fe...
I usually don't start shows till next month but I sponsored the local campdraft and they've asked me to go along with a small display for a few hours on Saturday afternoon. Initially I declined as past experience at events with horses haven't been successful, but the organiser assured me the ladies involved love jewellery and they'll be over 2000 participants, captive at the sporting grounds 5km out of town. There is only one other person selling items (shirts I believe) and with that many people stuck in the grounds, I'm willing to give it a try! Its only 20km away, a quick undercover setup and pulldown and no cost (apart from the sponsorship which I was doing anyway), so any sales will be good!
I was at a sailing event last month with people from all over the US attending. There were several tables set up with things to buy (Florida type stuff, sailing stuff, clothes) and they were all doing killer business. You will probably be happily surprised at your sales.. Have fun!
