the story might not be true about Georgia, but I will tell you from personal experience, that Interstate 81 in Virginia is a major revenue for the state right now. there are even billboards for the lawyers who are helping people who get tickets on that road. They had police every 5 to 10 miles at times! Radar detectors are over $100.00 fine all by themselves since they are illegal to use in the state. even if they are off, but visible. I was given both a speeding ticket and a ticket for my radar detector, even though it was off.
NYC has a new ruling, no cell phone use while driving. it is an automatic $300 fine. The cops have set up motorcyle teams around the city that stop people if they even think you are using a cell phone. It went into effect a month ago. Luckily, I was not using mine when I went by.....but I did take a right turn, 5 minutes after I was allow to do it by a sign that was so far up in the air, I didn't see it.....
Also, parking in NYC.... If there is a meter that takes money, don't take it for granted that you can park there. check signs on the entire block. If there is a sign at the beginning of the block that says, commercial vehicles only, or some other restriction, that over-rides the meter. Luckily, I was sitting in my car, looking for change when the cop stopped to tell me to keep moving. I asked him why, and he told me....
Bottom line, states are broke, they are looking for anyway to make money. Revenue from tickets is a great way to make money. This IS TRUE!
For those of us who are traveling around the country, trying to make a living, take it from a road warrior who is also out there. Don't speed. or if you do, be warned. Tickets are expensive these days.

Another great thing about the CB was we knew instantly about accidents ahead, or weather/road conditions.
Today I just stay with the truckers. They know where "Smokey" is and if they slow down, so do I.
But the one thing that really annoys me are the TEXTERS while driving! IDIOTS!!!!!
