Hello All! New to the site, Seem to be the only Mainer here! Jeweler, Beader, Stringer, and Wire Wrapper. Just lucked into a local Artwalk that takes place once a month- all year-and it is cost free. Call, show -up, set-up, sell, leave. Just need to sign a release form. I have only been doing shows for about 2 seasons, so roughly 18 months. Am looking to build this into a full time gig. Have my dba-tax cert-studio- and am currently researching all our Fairs, Fests, and Events that happen here in Maine- WOW- what alot!! So started my own Database for events, contacts, etc. And just got the studio cleaned, and reorganized for 2010. So far I've been very busy-next week I can get back to designing. Got lot's of wonderful ideas, too! Wish Everyone a Successful 2010! Karole dba TwistedAngel Jewelry Designs

  • We've had a pretty mild winter. It's only gone to minus 15 a few times. And the snow hasn't been that heavy either. We had one 20+ inch storm and a number of little 6 to 8 inch nusance storms, but that's about all.
  • Hey Chris,
    Thanks for the Welcome!
Wish I had a wood stove- I grew up with one, and miss it very much. I even learned to cook on one!
Unfortunately, when buying my home, I had to consider my daughter's numerous allergies- the allergist said NO to wood heat. On the upside- She reached adulthood this past year, and has since gotten her own place- so next year- I hope to install a wood stove! We lose power for 3-4 days at least twice a year- and a wood stove would be a very welcome addition at those times! How much snow do you have? We have about 3 feet. I posted some pics after the last storm. I am gearing up for an Artwalk next week... never done one, so it'll be a new experience. And just booked a spot at a festival one of my Dec Fair organizers is doing in Feb. It's a little slow during the first three months of the year I'm finding. A lot of outside events-snow derbys, etc , but not a lot for Art/Craft type events.
Do you have those issues too? Guess I can plan to use the slow period for research and development! Will check into the Castleberry Fairs- I grew up in Ellsworth, and am very interested in doing shows in and around Bar Harbor- I love going home, and seeing all the changes. Thanks for the tip!
Thanks again for the Welcome, and for the little cheer up concerning the tax thing. I needed that! Have a great weekend!

Welcome from a fellow New Englander. I'm over in Vermont but love going to Maine. My wife's favorite spot is Pemmequid Light. My favorite is Camden. We do a show in August in Gloucester, MA and take the following week to travel up through Maine and do a show In Bar Harbor to pay for the vacation. Both shows are with Castleberry out of New Hampshire. Good people. There are quite a few Mainers doing their shows.

Got your woodstove going? Mine's keeping the house nice and toasty.

  • Thanks for the Welcome, Dave.
I am an amateur photographer, but it is so beautiful up here, it can be very easy to get great shots. Especially when the Moose and Deer walk right down your road, or camp in your back yard! We even have to take the bird feeders down come spring, or the Bears will come raid them! And the birds.... I am a birder, have been my whole life, and when I got my first camcorder 16 years ago, and discovered I could take slow motion shots of the Hummingbirds at my feeder, I thought I was in Nirvana! As I write this, the birds are waking the neighbors up, and our back yard is covered with white snow. I can't imagine living anywhere more peaceful or beautiful. Yes, I was very excited about the Artwalk. I have been putting in some long hours creating my Maine Shows spreadsheet. I am documenting ALL the Shows that happen here in Maine, with all applicable info- for my self and my group of crafters. In future all we will have to do is update the dates and any info that changes. I never realized how busy this state is with festivals and events during June, July and August. Maybe because we are all so happy the snow is gone, the mud is gone, and we can finally be out and about without having to shovel snow, or slog through mud! Give me a shout when you plan to make your trip here- we have some wonderful, picture worthy places and things to see and do! Am I long winded, or what? Off to the Databases and spreadsheets!

Welcome to the site where you can find out everything you always wanted to know about Art Fairs!
I'd like to make it up to Maine some day soon. Not this summer, but maybe the next. I'm a Nature/Wildlife Photographer, and when I retire from my day job in a few years, I want to travel to take picture, and hope to sell a few along the way. I like that kind of Art Walk! Wish we had some close to here. Good luck to you in 2010. I've got a good feeling about this year and have been printing all day.
