  • The Ocean View Art Show is put on entirely by artists, so we try to be friendly and inviting to everyone, artists and buyers!  If it makes a difference, any money we make goes right back into the art community, in the way of art school scholarships.  Usually we aid 3-4 students with cash from $1000 to $200.  In 2012 we gave out $2000, but I think that will go up this year.

As artists, we like to keep the application fee low.  Right now it's $95 and we are waiving the jury fee until July.

The park is layed out along a winding path, and is grassy for everyone.  Right now the layout has every booth along the path, with open grass behind you.  Plenty of room to stash stuff!  We also call the size as 10 x 10 with walk around room - meaning we measure out 12-14 feet!

Attendance-wise I'm not good at estimating.  It seemed to be a steady crowd of people.  We also have good participation on the stage, with 12 groups entertaining us in 2012.  The stage is also set back far enough that the music isn't blasting us.

Hope to see you in Ocean View!

    • Thanks Dave, between the great cause and going somewhere new, we will send our app in shortly.
  • I've never done it but I have not heard good things about Port Warwick.

  • Dave Hinde should be able to steer you straight on this.  Message him if he doesn't post something here.

At Dave's suggestion, I did the Ocean View show last year (I'm a wildlife/bird photographer).  It's very small, informal, and WINDY (it's right on the water).  I had surprisingly good sales for such a small investment of booth fee, but I would not recommend traveling a long distance to do it. It's a great "paycheck show" if you will be doing other shows in the area.

The show is well attended by the locals, and they do seem to buy.

    • Thanks Geoff. I have enjoyed reading your posts. I will get in touch with Dave. As a teacher and a retired teacher, we do like the fact that the proceeds fund scholarships.
