need booth tent and walls asap! help!

hi! i work with a metal artist nicholas yust, who is participating in 2 art shows in fl on feb 13,14 and the folling weekend. he just realized the naples national show does not suppy or rent tents/walls and now i am on the quest to get them in hand by the show! anyone have either of the two for sale OR can suggest a cost-efficient but good tent and way to get them quickly? thanks for the help!!! we are a little new to this in case you can't tell. all past shows have been provided for or indoors.

  • nancy,

we got the ez up. it was cost effective enough for now, but we had issues trying to set up in the wind and rain of florida! also, the side walls were flapping around the entire time, knocking up against the walls, and the artwork was shaking and becoming misaligned. not ideal, but it works.

  • thank you all for your advice! we got a sam's membership and got the ez-up. of course, to make it even harder for us first timer's, set-up was during gushing winds and downpour of rain! nonetheless, it did the trick and we will be using at again this weekend. we will upgrade when the money comes around because we could tell other's were much better equipped, and looked nicer.

connie - it's ok! but no worries, there is no big production shop issue here. nicholas is a self-representing artist. he does metal art and sculptures which are hand ground aluminum, copper and stainless pieces. some have color and are wall hanging or free standing art. he makes all of the art himself from materials to design and finishing, even packaging and shipping from a small studio in cincinnati. he is just like every other artist at the shows.

i am a jewelry artist but also have my own graphic designs and marketing company (j.l.c. graphic designs & marketing concepts); that is how i am associated with nicholas. i do all of his marketing materials including logo, brochure, business cards...as well as edit photos of his art for printing and i built and maintain his website. i do random things here and there like help prepare for shows, which is why i was handling the tent issue for him.

so that's the story! glad to be part of the group!

  • My error, Jenna. I just get nervous when I fear big production shops are coming into the art fairs. Best wishes with the two events - I echo Paula -- Sam's Club is a good source.

re-reading my message (especially with the spelling error) i guess it was a little unclear. the art shows are DIFFERENT weekends. on is on feb 13-14 and the other is the folling (following) weekend nov 21- 22.

more importantly - any help on booth and walls? mostly walls...we can get a cheap tent for now but can't find walls!!!

  • Paula,

Thank you for your response. I think we are going with a costco version for now and then upgrade. While I can locate lots of rental companies in FL for the tents, I can't find a single one to do walls!!

The quickest way would be to go to a Sam's Club or Cosco Club. They sell canopies which include sidewalls, an awning, and a carry bag. But...canopies are seasonal so there is no guarantee they would have them in stock. Get on the phone and call Sam's Clubs & Cosco's. Sam's sell EZ-up. Cosco's sell Caravan.
Cost is about $225 per canopy

    Also jump on Craig's List.

Your other option is to order on-line and pay rush shipping. You are running up against the clock on this option.

Another option is to call rental companies in the area of your shows. Some of them rent canopies. You might try googling --- party rental equipment (followed by the name of a large town near your event)

Hope this helps a little. Best of luck to you,

  • Hi Jenna,

I'm a little curious. Almost all art fairs require the artist to be present for the duration of the event. How is Nicholas going to be in two places?
