  • I have everything you need for sale including an EZ Up tent, mesh sides with staybars, director's chair and more.  Used them once will sell them to you!

    • great! will do :)

  • I started with a Caravan brand tent from Costco in 2007, and it's still in use today.  I think that's about 30 shows for me.  The one addition I made from the start is Sta-Bars from Flourish.com.  About $150 and it was the best investment I've made.  The Sta-Bars keep the tent from swaying, and also provide an attachment point for some types of walls.

You will also need some weight for the tent.  Easy to make with PVC pipe and cement.  There are a couple threads on here with instructions.  I also have some sandbags I got from Flourish.com, but I suggest filling them with gravel, not sand.  Sand leaks out!

Another consideration is the vehicle you will be using to go to shows.  Make sure everything fits!

    • I agree with Dave. Start with a Caravan tent (more solid than EZ-Up) and invest in the Sta-Bars from Flourish. My other suggestion is to upgrade the Caravan walls. The ones that come standard with the tent are too thin. That's about $500 all in and you'll have a tent setup that will work just fine and an easy one person set up.

      • If you aren't buying a Caravan, make sure whatever you buy has replaceable parts.  Caravan does, although I've never needed anything except new sides!

  • I would start with the EZup canopy. If you're just starting, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I used one for the first five years of doing shows ( part time).  When I started doing shows full time, I made the switch to a LightDome that ran me about $1400.

As  Larry said, it really depends on what your making. The perfect booth is a long process. Once you get it set up, you'll think of something else you want to do. My booth has completely changed twice in two years. Now I'm trying to think of a way to get a second story in my booth......ok, I jest.

    Good luck !!

    • thanks - i  do have an EZ up and i have homemade screens that work well indoors but i would have to "anchor" them to be outside... my work ranges from small blocks of wood i put out on a table to large hanging pieces on 4x4' homemade "wood canvases" - i probably just need to "jump in" and see what happens - you learn best that way i guess!!!

  • Besides the white canopy, it depends on what your medium is and how you display your work. Your profile says mixed media on wood. Is that all wall hangings or sculptures that can sit on pedestals? How much do you want to invest. You can get a get started EZUp type canopy for $200 at Costco or Sam's Club or get much more expensive Trimline Canopy. Either way you'll need walls under the canopy to hang your work or be a backdrop for work on pedestals. Then the booth image for jurying is a whole other question.
