I sent off email cancellations for Elk Fest and the cabin we had rented today after visiting the Estes Park Flood Recover Facebook page. Basically they are saying it will be months before the roads are rebuilt and they are advising residents to evacuate for the winter. They were pretty excited about two fuel trucks making there way in on Hwy. 7. What a mess. Rocky Mountain National Park is also closed, but a caravan of Suburbans and SUVs went over Trail Ridge Road to bring out a bunch of kids from Parker, the town just up the road from us, who had been stranded on their field trip. Won't be long before Trail Ridge Road is closed by snow. This last round of rain brought snow above 10,000'. Time to shift gears and start planning for next summer.
