Caravan Side Walls

I have a standard Caravan canopy from Costco.  Today I had two zippers break, and there is no wind today!  One of the zippers has popped before, and I can get it going again.  The other is toast.

My question is: Does anyone know of a better brand of sidewalls that will fit on a Caravan?  That's the only thing I don't like about my tent.  It seems like all the sidewalls are an inch short, and you have to tug on them to get the zippers going.

  • Thanks. I think I'll call Caravan today. I wonder if they have a refurbished carrying bag, too. Mine has one broken zipper, one tear, and one handle ripped almost off! They actually replaced my bag twice in the first year because of broken zippers. Caravan has a heavier bag and I'll see if that one is available as a refurb.

I called Caravan and ordered a set of sidewalls. The heavier ones are around 80.00 each plus shipping. But they have the thicker ones, not the flimsy nylon, REFURBISHED SIDEWALLS ..(which was explained to me as when a canopy is returned to Costco because people have weekend bbques and only use them for one time,) the sides are not opened so they are classified as "Refurbished".

They sell a set of 4 sidewalls for $25.00 plus shipping, I'm in Fl, shipping was 24.00. So I ordered 2 sets. You can also purchase "refurbished canopies" for $99. Shipping is high but worth it if you live out west. .... These sides are like you explained and so I use clamps also.
  • This is actually me second set from Caravan. I lost a couple zippers trying to get the walls hung on a windy day. I had two big guys tugging on the wall and it popped the zipper. I think I have enough out of the two sets to make one good one, so I'm OK for now. My caravan's done OK through about 20 shows, a few with strong winds. If this set of walls gives out, I want to replace them with something better. Actually, I think Caravan sells a better quality set of side walls, but I wanted to check other options.

You can contact Caravan. They will sale the replace walls to you (a set of 4). I had to do that with my EZ UP. My cost was 120.00 plus need to replace the awning for 50. They also sale heavy duty walls for 300.00.

What I am trying to tell you save money a get a good tent. After this experience off mine that is my goal.

  • Lowes has bags of assorted sized clamps for $9.99. They are plastic, but pretty strong. That's what's holding my sides together now! The one's at Lowes have a large round opening that is good for rolling up the sides and clamping them to the tent. The smalles one is good for hanging stuff. I've attached a picture.

An alternative is to carry a bunch of three inch spring clamps. I've found the one with orange grip and tips from Home Depot to be the best.
