What is the "normal" size print that sells well and what width should the border be for a print on paper?

I do 3sizes, 5x7 prints matted to 8x10, 8x12 prints matted/framed to 12x16, and 12x18 prints framed to 18x24. I used to print to the edge, but now I have a 1/4" border around the print that is covered by the mat, so that the image itself is seen fully.
Are you asking about prints of paintings, or photographic prints? I'm a photographer and I sell prints in all sizes up to 13 x 19. The bulk of my prints are 8 x 10 matted to 11 x 14 with double mats. I have a few 4 x 6 and 5 x 7 photos, also matted, but I've stopped printing that size for sale. Instead I have a lot of small frames with 5 x 7 photos in them. Those sell well to people looking for gifts, especially around holiday time.
My next favorite sizes after the 8 x 10 are 11 x 14 (matted to 16 x 20) and 13 x 19 (matted to 18 x 24). Usually I sell about twice the number of 8 x 10s as the others. I print the 8 x 10 photos on 8.5 x 11 paper and the mat hides the border. 11 x 14 is printed on 13 x 19, again hidden by mat.
