This is the weekend for some popular festivals across the country. Hope all of our friends have a great fair at Long's Park (PA), Art in the Pearl in Portland (OR), Sausalito (CA) and right in the middle between them my old haunt, Arts, Beats & Eats (MI).

Anyone want to weigh in on which one is the best?

What else is happening this weekend?

  • Mystic, Ct - slow sales yesterday but excellent today. Traffic was steady - never a huge crowd but new shoppers all day long and happy to buy if they saw something they liked.
  • Longs Park. Great amenities and treatment. So far not impressed with sales.
  • ESTES PARK LABOR DAY ARTS AND CRAFTS SHOW, COLORADO. Today was set up. Jean and I started at 8:30 and wrapped it up at 4:30 this afternoon. Last hour was spent restocking belts on the wall and putting the rest in reserve. Also had to tag new canteens and holsters. Picture was taken at our lunch break before we started hanging merchandise. The other picture was relaxing back the cabin. We are staying at the Wile Away Cabin which was built in 1919 in the first summer home development in Estes Park. It has been modernized. • Estes Park Day 1 Saturday 8-31-13, Nice day with a few afternoon brief sprinkles. Lots of people which is usual for this weekend, but for me not a lot of buyers. Made in excess of direct show expenses but not enough to put me in the black for the entire trip expenses. Checking back over 3-year history it is not unusual to have one slow day out of the three.  Pictures are of the Notch on Longs Peak (14,255') from front of our booth, and the "Twin Owls" just to the north. Last photo of crowd typical all day. Had a fun time at dinner with other AFIers.301655848?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024301656612?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024301657259?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024

      • Another slow day at Estes Park, CO for me and other artists: photography, metal sculpture, jewelry, clothing ...... These are people that have had solid shows here in the past. Lots of people, but few sales. I finally moved into black for total show expenses. I guess I shouldn't complain. I sold the third saddle being built in the group of three and got the final payment for another. When one part of the business is down there is another to pick up the slack. One more day.
        • Monday just as slow as prior days. Will get the review and blog up in the next couple days. I did end up in the black.
        • Richard - nice meeting you and Steve Appel today, hope the show picks up.  There was a lot of great art work there, we spent a few dollars but I did not see many bags being carried.  Oh, except out of one of the shops in town that had huge sale, end of season signs.  Grumble, grumble......
