Getting ready to work a small local market.
I haven't done any type of show for at least eight years and when I broke out my SQUARE READER I discovered the small cylindrical prong does not fit into any receptacle on my iPhone 13
Should I stay with Square and use TAP to PAY or are there better ways to accept payments for my framed photographic prints?
Thanks!

square makes a reader for current iphones that doesn't require the prong. Just buy one of those from square.
High dollar artists might read up on fraud with tap processing. I have gone back to insert, swipe or manual entry. It confirms I had card in hand. Just FYI.
I started with the square reader that plugs in, like you. Then moved to the bluetooth model. it was neat, but honestly that thing dropped all the time, just as I was trying to wrap up a sale!
Sometime in the past year, they've gone to a contactless system at least for my iphone 14 Pro Max. It's heaven - people just tap their cards to my phone and it's done. My advice would be: think about whether its time for a new phone anyway, and your problems here are over.
I used Intuit for years and this year they wanted $99 for PCI compliance so I switched to Bank of America, who I bank with. I purchased a card reader for $99 and BOA includes PCI compliance at no additional cost. It took a month to set up the card reader. They admitted there was a software issue with Android phones. But they stuck with it and got it working and I am thrilled with it. You can tap, swipe, or insert on device 2.5"x2.5"x0.5". If you use BOA, funds are in your account the next day. Fees are 2.65% plus $0.01 per swipe.
We once used square but don't want to support jack dorsey
We use sun up. It uses a Bluetooth device that allows swipe, dip or tap for cards, and fees are the same as square. And it is independently owned. Funds arrive within 2 business days. Reports are available
FYI: What device you select will depend on the type of sales you make from shows, internet, etsy, long tetm custom work etc. Get your info together and discuss with company rep rather than relying on hodg podg of "I use this". I use Clover because I have 6-12 month relations with clients on large projects with payments +$1K coming in before/during and after. An outfit like Square sends these to a third party for payment. This would raise a red flag with my clients wanting to know what gives after communicating directly with me. Do the homework and get what works best for your unique business. I use Clover.
