Hello all,
I've been making iron art for a few years as gifts and a few special orders. I'll be in my first show this weekend. I didnt want to just make a bunch of duplicate pieces so I'm a little anxious to see if people will pay for ordering pieces that I show, or just want what they see right then and there. I only made 16 pieces for the weekend. Anyone in a similar medium experience this before?

so how did the weekend go with your first show?
Very well thanks. Sold about 10 pieces. Got the best in metal art ribbon and a $300 prize. Which pretty much made my weekend a homerun.
Finally realized I could just promise the first buyer the piece they bought after the show was over. Any buyers of the same piece after that, I would make this week. That did turn off a few buyers which said they would just contact me later.
Met some awesome fellow artist which is probably my favorite part
sounds like a great weekend, congratulations on getting the first show out of the way :-)
Thanks Richard.
Kevin, I changed your discussion from Welcome to Art Fair Insiders to Art Fair Discussions. I think it may get a few more responses in this forum. We like to keep the Welcome to AFI for new people introducing themselves to the group.
On your iron pieces, I think it could go either way. Sometimes people like to take their purchases home with them right away. Other times they want something so bad that they will be content to place an order.
You will have to let us know how it goes for you.
Thanks, I figured there was a better category somewhere.
