The Art Gallerist

I was just curious if anyone had any experience with selling with this online juried website? I applied and was accepted, but I don't know of anyone who has used it and was a little nervous to try it out. If it works as it says though, it could be a pretty nice tool. I'd really like to hear from anyone who has had experience with them.

  • I checked out the website and like the concept of a juried online gallery. The quality of the the work looked good compared to other sites like Etsy. I noticed a few "sold" signs on the paintings, but the "sold sign" is put up whether the artist sells online, at a show, or direct to client. I liked the free shipping. I'm thinking it couldn't hurt to try it.

  • I've been on it for several years. You should be so lucky to have to worry about getting paid, Christopher. I haven't even come close to selling anything; but then again I never sold anything on Saatchi or any other online gallery that I've tried. I don't know, I wouldn't buy art based solely on what I saw on a computer screen.
  • Thank you! I will check it out.

  • I have not heard of this website. One you might want to try is Saatchiart.com They are a part of the famous Saatchi Gallery in London, but focus on emerging artists. They also have competitions that give you a chance to show your art in the gallery.

  • I should have mentioned, one of the things that makes me nervous about it, is that they collect the money and then mail me my percentage after the customer has received the work and the 7 day return period is over. It's not the waiting part that worries me, its the "what if getting paid turns out to be a hassle or an issue and I have already mailed away my work? I'm thinking if I try it, I may only offer giclees at first to see how it works out, that way at least if there is a problem I don't lose an original.
