Ahh, finally the "art-gods" smiled down on us at the Spring Green Art Show this past weekend. The weather was perfect, the attendance was great, the organizers were helpful and the art was selling. It all came together, finally! It has been a very difficult spring, between the weather and the economy. Spring Green is a great art show!
I was there so here is more info. This show has about 200 booths with a nice mix of art and craft. It is located on the main street of Spring Green stretching about 4 blocks on both sides of the street into residential area. Set up begins on Friday night at 7:30 after the street is closed. We could drive up to our space and unload on the sidewalk. The space was generous as we had 4 feet or so behind our canopy for chairs and storage. Hours are Sat. 9 A.M. to 5 and Sun. 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. and the crowd starts coming at 9 on Sat. A little slower start on Sun. Spring Green has a population of about 1400 (I think) but the crowds do come. Madison is about 40 miles away and most of our sales were from Madison and surrounding towns. Our sales were brisk on Sat. as the serious buyers were out. But Sun, although the crowds were there, they seemed to be parading by and sales were about one third of Sat. I did see some larger pieces go by and a fair amount of metal garden art. My neighbor told me to put out my lower priced pieces. Even though I also had many higher priced pieces out, everything I sold was Less than $100. This is a very reasonably priced show. It was easy to sell 10 times the booth fee.
With limited time available right now, I was lucky to get this posted. The main point I wanted to make was that Spring Green is a good show for others to consider and maybe we are all going to see a turn in the economy and art shows.
Gee Colin, could you not be just a little more sharing about the show. This is another yada, yada moment on this site, you really haven't said anything meaningful--I mean, we are all glad you made some money--but I don't call this an Insider moment. In the past you have written some great blogs--how about now.

Nels, does this help?
