I've had a few people use this site to send me spam like, "I have important details to share with you." Please don't. Chances are I'm not interested and it just clogs up my email. Also, if your grammar is incorrect, I can tell it's a spammer. Don't waste my time or yours. Thank you.

Interesting about the Etsy issue. I'm not on Etsy so I don't get that, but the red flag for me comes up with ambiguous order requests where there's no one particular image or piece that they want to buy but rather they want me to send them a list of work to choose from along with prices - all of which is on my website already. When I get an actual order, it is always focused on one or more particular pieces. And, oh yeah..the 'extra' they want to include...lol. All those emails get immediately marked as phishing.
I think a lot of scammers and spammers are smelling blood in the water now that us artist are more reliant on our websites and virtual means of selling. I have noticed an uptick in spam from some of my art related portfolio sites, and I was recently target for a scam on Etsy. Luckily, their approaches start to fall apart as soon as you look too closely at them, as long as you're not blinded by greed, lol. I got the old "I want to buy this higher priced painting from you, but not off Etsy, because they don't accept personal checks and my uncle is buying this for me". When I declined, then came more red flags - oh, let's do this ASAP, give me your address and I'll send a cashiers check right away! Yeah, and it will bounce, and I will be out my painting and the amount of the check, plus the "extra" your uncle probably wrote it for that you wanted me to send back in cash! Be careful, people!
I tell ya, if those spammers ever learn spelling and proper syntax we're going to be in trouble.
