Dana, I don't think it is a waste of time. If no one complains, how will the shows know. I use to hear that for every complaint received, there are about 500 people that feel the same way but haven't complained. If you don't let someone know how you feel there certainly isn't going to be change. So, I vote with letting the show know how you feel.
