And thank goodness for the price drop! I teach a class in Metal Clay and was trying to figure how I could manage to make it affordable with the prices so high! The change was great timing for my metal clay order, but I, too had just placed a big wire order! You win some, you lose some. Oh, well. :)
I have a lot of silver that I was going to sell when I got back to Florida. It was going to finance my art purchases for the winter. But, this is good news for the jewelers so that is a good thing. And, the price of gas is going to go down to since oil dropped to $80/barrel so getting to shows won't be so outrageous.
Little silver linings (pardon the pun) as the stock market tanks.
Thanks Ruth. I wish I would have saved all those little scraps years ago when silver prices were so incredibly low! It's amazing how all those little bits and pieces add up. I have over 1lb that I was going to send to the refinery.
Donna - one market we've found for our scrap silver, or to be very specific our scrap fine silver is some glass artists friends. A couple of the guys we know use it to fume into their glass, we sold our scrap at a higher price than our supplier would give us but at a lower price than they could buy, so it was a win/win for all of us.

Been watching the price and it is good because I need to place and order for silver, but I wish I would have sent in my scrap when it was high!
