  • Hi Margaret, Of course I remember you! I heard the same reports about the Athens show.. I did not have confidence in that first year show and I thought it was expensive so I decided to pass. glad I did.

I am still considering Osceola.. now we just need a great Priceline hotel like you got in ATL.. lets stay in touch..

  • Hey Linda, I was next to you at Chastian Park this year- I too love your work! I'm reconsidering going to Osceola- I did Athens after Chastian and nobody came to that show and it was depressing. Staring at four walls for two days sucks and I really can't afford another show like that. My website has been getting good traffic so maybe I'll do art during February and eek it out until March. Waited forever to get my kids through school to be able to go on the road and the economy goes down the tubes with no relief in site. Go figure.

  • Thanks for the feedback everyone! I really appreciate all of your experiences!
Its a NO for me on Osceola.
Now to find some other shows I can squeeze into in FL for Feb and March. hmm
  • Lol, Robin, the hotels WERE all bad. I'd forgotten about that. They were old and lacking in any kind of maintenance.

Beverly - I had actually planned to return (Suncoast Art Festival) but decided against all the Florida shows this year. If I were to do one though, it would have been that one. I did about $1200 and about $350 from customers I met there after I got home. Set up was easy, you could drive right up to your tent and you could park very close in a covered parking garage. There was a good crowd, a lot of the 20-35 year olds that usually buy my work. I had no beach photos at all. I saw a lot of fine art with some craft and some Peruvian flute players which I would think were neither lol. This was just my experience though, there were several artists that weren't happy with their show there. Put Suncoast in the search up there and I'm pretty sure the blog post I did about it will come up (along with some that weren't so favorable). The location was beautiful and I thought the customers were friendly. My biggest sellers were my 24"x24" original canvases for $285, I even had customers buy two at a time. My blog post about it is pretty detailed (probably more than anyone would ever want to know LOL) so maybe it will help :).
  • I did it last year and it was awful! awful! awful! No advertising, bobody came. Loud music, lousy hotels nearby. I overheard the director tell a friend, "We sent invitations to 2,000 Facebook friends so we should have a good crowd." Ha! Even for a filler I wouldn't waste my money.
  • OMG! Youre right! Super bowl is on Sunday Feb 6.. Well, the good news is its on a Sunday which is always a slower day for me in the south.. Game time is 6 pm and i know lots of ppl have big parties leading up to the game...I can understand the second thoughts... I am having them too... hmmm I wonder if anyone else has any feedback on doing art shows on Super Bowl Sunday....
  • Hi Linda
You mentioned doing mount dora, did you do that show before?
I have big time second thoughts, I think it is superbowl sunday.
  • Jennifer - I noticed you did Suncoast last year. I'm doing it in 2011. Are you returning? I'm an abstract painter. Can you tell me anything about the show? I have a rv and plan on staying in the parking lot to keep costs down, but how were the crowds. Is it one of those Florida shows where all the art is beach art? Is it mostly craft or fine art? I'm trying to determine whether to take mostly low or high end paintings. Thanks.
  • lol phillip, it sounds like you speak from experience.
  • Driving from Tn. to do this show is shocking. I'm not sure it could even be considered a filler show. You would be lucky to make gas money.
