Has any one done the Hotworks show in Oct in Estero Fl or have any opinions on it. I know that alot of snow birds come in Nov but leave again for the holidays. End of Oct? Any experience with this show would be appreciated!
Thanks for all your hel!!!!!p just might try the Mt Dora hard to find good show in Oct in Fl... any opinion on the Autumn Winter Park show. I have been exclusive to swfl for the last 6 years and have done the Spring Winterpark many shows ago. Thanks again!
If you want a good show in Florida that weekend, try Mount Dora. Phenomenal attendance (300,000?), and they spend money. Lots of it. Parking is a big challenge, but they have shuttle busses. Our only problem with this show is processing the customers fast enough. Had 5 people working the booth (10x20) last year and still had people waiting 80% of the time. Weather was great, no clue what would happen if it rained. This show does not rely on Snowbirds for attendance either. Of course, we live 20 minutes from Mount Dora
I live right nearby, less than 20 minutes away. I've done her last six shows--3 fall, 3 winter (February).
The fall show has not been a big money-maker for me (I'm a photographer of Florida wildlife, especially birds). In contrast to Nancy, I've done extremely well at the winter shows. Patty's shows are of pretty high quality. I see you are from Naples, so at least your expenses would be minimal. If you're trying to build your local market it might--I say, MIGHT--be worth a shot. Up to you.
The show moved into late October because of competing show (I think Howard Alan's Coconut Point show) conflicted with the early November date this show usually occupies. That may cost a few snowbirds in attendance, but the bigger concern last week in October is the weather. Rainy season sometimes hangs around until November 1, and if it does, that could be one messy show.
I did this show about three years ago. It was miserable. Only a trickle of people all day and they weren't buying. The only thing that saved the show was one man came in at 4:15 on sunday and bought three things. Other than that, it was a joke.

I've reviewed the Hot Works shows frequently. Here's a link to my review of the last fall show. In it, you'll see a link to my previous reviews.
Three words. Don't Do It.
