  • Amy -- these shows at Oakbrook have been around for years. We used to participate in the fine art show in the '80's and '90's. There has always been a fine craft show in July and a fine art show on Labor Day weekend. Generally speaking this has worked well for the Oakbrook Center and for the artists involved.
  • The show has always been split and while I haven't been to the Fine Art one in years it was pretty large in and of itself.   I know that members here have done the Fine Craft show so maybe they will see this and jump in with their comments.  (yes, my hinged friend, I am talking about you!!)
  • Geri:  Thanks for your input about this show... It would be good to know if Oakbrook has addressed the issues you discussed.  I thought it was interesting that they have it split between Fine Art and Fine Craft, as it seems to me to be a big enough place to have both at the same time!  As always, I appreciate your (as well as others) insights on shows they've been in and attended.  We all can have "good show weekends" and "bad show weekends", but QUALITY of shows and the audience they pull are all things we can usually agree on, whether we're selling well or not!  Thanks!
  • Last year this show was not a good one.  The artists seemed to be scattered throughout the mall and it was easy to miss them.  The attendance seems to be more about the people coming to the mall and not necessarily the art festival.  I didn't see a single booth with more than a couple of patrons in them.  Sorry to slam this show but it was not what it used to be last year.  Maybe it will be improved this year cuz it used to be a good one.
  • Amy, go with the "postmark" -- put in a note that you found this on this site. Thanks.
  • Connie:  I noticed on the paper application that it says they need to be RECEIVED by March 1, not postmarked (as is usual)...  Do you knowif that's true or not?
