  • Hello Jean! Thank you so much for the info. I am a Mississippi girl but I am definitely having one of those "changes in latitude - changes in attitude" life moments. I am really excited to participate in ArtsQuest this year and see how it stacks up against the others festivals I have participated in. One of my favorites is just two weeks before ArtsQuest... the Double Decker Arts and Music Festival in Oxford, Mississippi... yes, I am biased based on location, but it has always been a good show for me. It is a Saturday only show but my sales have ranged from $2,200 - $5,000 over the three years I have participated. I was juried into ArtsQuest this year in the mixed media category. I have items ranging from $25 - $1,200. My "specialty" is hand etching on my canvas of choice - authentic antique windows. I draw, etch, and then paint one-of-a-kind pieces. I also have some sculptural mixed media pieces and... well, you know, a little of this, a little of that.

I hope we get a chance to meet at a show one day! Thank you again. I know each show is a gamble... but I didn't want to risk it on the "prestigious" local festival I participated in last Mother's Day weekend. It was a huge bust. And I would much rather bust on the sandy beaches of Destin than 20 miles from home in North Mississippi.  Good luck on your festivals this year! I will share my experiences at ArtsQuest in the forum in May.

  • Hi , I'm a jeweler and have done the show many times. It has been moved around a lot and I did it in 3 different locations. Depending on what you have, Ive heard many mixed reviews. My sales have ranged from $2 500 to $4 500 over the years. It use to be 2 1/2 days, then they tried 3 full days and I see now it's 2 days. The 3 full days was my worst year, funny enough. I love the organizers , love the show, but I moved to the other coast. Plus I did it about 5 years, so it was just time to move around. My price points are around $50 for hand painted cuff bracelets and necklaces up to $100. There is a lot of visitors Mother's Day weekend and for the most part the weather was always nice, with a couple exceptions with a couple cloudy/ light rainy days. I did it twice at Grand Boulevard and had my biggest sale from one person at that show, which was $700. Some painters did well and some did not. It really depends what you have, like with many shows. There definitely is money in that area. Well, that's all I can say. I saw a review in an artist book, that gave it a score of 3 out of ten, but I would personally rate it atleasts 7 out of ten average . Again, just depends what you have. I wish you luck, I will return to it again , maybe try it next year, but I do like to move around after a few years, makes people miss you:):) again, I think most jewelers do well, it just depends what you have:)
  • Hello! This will be my first year to participate in the South Walton ArtsQuest festival. I was wondering if anyone else will be there... And, if anyone has previous experience with this festival. Thanks!
