Is this "America's Best Art Fair?"

Deadline: September 30, midnight -- your turn to tell us what is the Best Art Fair. 8869126276?profile=original

Our site ArtFairCalendar.com, whose mission it is to publicize art fairs and bring the public to attend and buy art work, is conducting its first annual survey of "America's Best Art Fairs."

The goal: to publish this list and get it well publicized for the purpose of connecting those people who love to attend shows by sharing the information.

Your opinion counts (you've attended a lot of them), show organizers opinions count (they attend lots of shows too and know the competition) and there is a great group of people who love the shows and will travel to find them, as well as bring their friends.

We've had a great response to the survey but we are in the last days -- please take the survey, share it on your FB pages, your business pages and send it out to your email lists. The more responses we receive the more accurate the results will be and it will help build attendance at the best shows, and lead to better crowds at the smaller events.

Please do it now. Click here: http://www.artfaircalendar.com/art_fair/best-art-fairs-survey.html

  • VOTING CLOSED. We've had a wonderful response from the triad: artists, show organizers and people who love to attend art fairs. Stay tuned for the results. It is going to take a while to analyze all the info (22 questions) and put it into a useful format.

    Lots of votes yesterday.

Official announcement of the winners will be at the reception at the Arts Festival Conference in Louisville on Monday, October 7.

  • Those 3 shows, Winter Park, Coconut Grove and Krasl have gotten lots of votes. Just think of the settings, the time of year when they are held, people on vacation, a wonderful venue ... after all my years attending outdoor shows I had a great time attending and shopping at the One of a Kind Show in Chicago (which also got loads of votes), indoors, pleasant, wide variety of work and a lot of it. And still I cannot resist the lure of Ann Arbor.

  • I guess I misunderstood the survey. If I was just going to the show as a spectator, I would have to say Winter Park or Coconut Grove because of the quality of the work. I would chose Krasl for the fun factor. I think I had my most fun this year at Oklahoma City and Long's Park. Winter Park has the artists bowling party.

  • No, I haven't done one just for artists. Sunshine Artist magazine and the Art Fair Sourcebook do those annually and their info is very useful. I am trying to reach out to the "art buyer" audience with this survey. Artists have many resources for finding out about shows, at this time our site ArtFairCalendar.com is the only online resource that collects the shows all in one place for that group to find shows. Really, it is my main mission to publicize the shows in order to bring the buyers to them to meet the artists and support my friends there.

  •  Connie,Have you ever done a survey just for the Artists? If not please consider it.

I bet the outcome would be much different.

  • This survey is not about how much money artists are making, it is about what art fairs people like most to attend and put on their calendar year after year. Overhead is high for artists at AA, but not necessarily for those who are shopping there.

Imagine that you wanted to go to an art fair to find something incredible, where they would be a good selection and the ambiance was cool also. Which show would you want to attend?

Right now, 12:42 pm, 9/29, in the lead: Old Town Art Fair, with Winter Park nipping at its heels.

(This was always our best two day show).

  • I agree with you, Nels. In fact, I am betting that I do more business at a one day show, next year, than I did the last few years at Ann Arbor, which is a 4 day show. The last time AA could make that claim was 1999.

  • That show can't even come close to topping Main Street Fort Worth or the Plaza Art Fair.

  • In the lead: the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, 5:30 pm, 9/28
