I was just checking out www.artfulhome.com. It's a juried application, if you're accepted they want $300 for membership, and take 50 percent of the sale. They don't promise you that you'll be in their catalogue, which is mailed to 1.5 million households, but they say they spend a lot on marketing the work and pushing out emails. I'm leery. Anybody ever try any of these art websites and have feedback they can share?
www.artfullykrafted.com accepts .jpg and .gif. We recommend a max. height and width of 500 pixels. Check out how other artists' photos/images show on the site.
Be sure and check out the photo guidelines. If you are not a proficient photographer with a good camera, you will need to pay someone for the photos - so add that to the $300 + commission. I was planning to look into that venue again (I have a good camera now :), but the fees are way too steep for me today. I am getting sick and tired of artists being taken advantage of by promoters, especially in these awful economic times. I prepared for "change", and it did - it got worse. Off the soap box. I am glad you guys are here, I get a lot of helpful information.
I have purchased several things from artful.home. I am sorry to hear they take so much from the artist since the prices are very similar to what the artists sell their art at shows.
I do get emails all the time from them. They approach their sales from all different angles-medium, geography, new artists. Their catalogs are absolutely beautiful. I spend a lot of time sighing over the many things I would love and can't afford.
A couple of times I have started to purchase something on-line and have been interrupted. They will call me to see if there was a problem and was there anything they could do. Not many companies have that kind of customer service.
Several artist friends also speak favorably of etsy.com but I have no experience with them.
