I just received an email from Harvest Festival about a tour of nine, three-day, indoor (and optional outdoor) shows on the West Coast starting Sept. 9-11 through Dec. 2-4. Booth fees range from $600-775 (expensive) depending on whether you exhibit indoors or outdoors. Eight of the nine shows are in California. One in Las Vegas. Has anyone done any of the Harvest shows? Any recommendations? I exhibit 2-D fine art. Could be that these shows attract lots of buy-sell and low end craft. I'm a midwest artist and never exhibited on the West Coast but a tour of California in the fall has got me thinking...

Step away from that temptation! Yes, they're mostly just a craft show, so you could be set up next to dough art, christmas ornaments, corncob pipes, train whistles - do you see where this is going? Also, you may have to bring your own hay bales to decorate your booth. Is this getting better for you?
If you really want to hit the West Coast, Sausalito is the best show to do, but the apps. are closed for this year. San Diego has a show in Old Town, I think it's still open. Just remember, the economy in CA and OR is in the pits and people, if they buy, it's low end.
That being said, the Beverly Hills Affaire in the Gardens is closed for its May show, but it has an Oct. show. Depending on where you're coming from (please, put in your home city when asking for show info!), it's a long drive, with no other shows to pair with it.
Do not even think of NV shows, the economy there is even worse than on the West Coast (Las Vegas is No. 1 in foreclosures in the nation - please do your homework!). The Boulder City shows, just outside Las Vegas are known for jamming in 600 or more artists into two or more parks. Avoid!
