Normally, I can find a bit more information about a show... but, other than the usual "call for artists", etc. I cannot seem to find any reviews on this show.  If you can provide any information, I would be very appreciative and delighted!

Thanks so much! Alice

  • I did got into the show last year and have applied again this year.  It was one of my best shows ever.

  • I'd be interested in any feed back on this one as well.  I remember it being a nice quality show back in the mid 80's....but recent info is what's needed.  Anyone done it lately?

  • I'm considering doing this show this year.  Vinnie's comment is now missing.  What did he have to say?  Do I want to do this show?

  • *giggle* Darla, I apologize for the late reply to this... just logged in & saw your comment... but, I cannot resist telling you that we just did a show where we got in on the "second jury round" ... and I believe I may have accidentally discovered something... if they need a second jury round, or extend their deadlines... I think it should come up as a "red flag" in your decision making... because there IS probably a reason that they couldn't fill the booth spaces on the first round, or by the first deadline :D

I would not suggest that this would ALWAYS be true... but, in the case of the show we just did... I believe it was indeed the reason.  And we should certainly have done a different show!

  • This is the second year in a row that Kohler has extended its deadlines. You should be aware of that. Anyone know why?

  • We're about 10+ hours away from Sheboygan.  We have a good customer base in Wisconsin from having done a Deer Classic in Madison, WI for eons in the 80's and very early 90's (we quit doing it because the building was such a pain in the arse to exhibitors... they had their own private list of 50 things designed to piss off even the most laid back exhibitor... and they just went down the list, poking... until they found yours! *giggle* And, it was a different annoyance every single year!) Anyways, we started doing art festivals several years ago... even though our hunting knives are what got us started 34 years ago.  Our handmade kitchen cutlery (that can be customized via materials to individual taste), cheese planes, letter openers, and folding knives appeal to the high end buyers at art festivals.  But, the bonus is that many of our high end buyers also hunt, so viola! our "meat & potatoes" products quietly sell, too... even though the jury may not have understood them at all! :D  Thanks for the nod on Madison Fair on the Square... I've been looking at that one... but, wasn't sure how difficult that it would be for us to get in... you see, we have to have a jury that will actually LOOK at our letters of reference from other art festivals, that indicate that we aren't stewpid or problem children... otherwise, we have no chance... as uninformed jurors sometimes just assume that we're stupid enough to leave our inventory in the booth overnight (good grief!) or that we would be dumb enough to leave our booth unattended or show our products to drunks or children.  IF we can get them to slow down long enough to read our letters of reference, all those concerns can be disspelled.  Annnnnnnnnnyyywways *grin* I really appreciate your comment! Thanks!

  • Thanks so much Vinnie!  I'm looking for a show that is great :D ...so you may have just given me the information I'm really looking for.  By the way, looked at your work, and I have to say that it's beautiful!!
