I wanted to say something nice about the Crosby Festival of the Arts at the Toledo Botanical Gardens. I've done this show for 6 years now and enjoy it every year......excellent sales, friendly customers and the show staff is superb. The heat got to me on Sunday and I started to go down. Luckily, the customer I was talking to was a nurse and she was quickly helped by the nurse on staff for the show. I had recently had some heart problems so it scared the bejeebers out of me but I was in good hands. The customer was monitoring my heart rate and the staff nurse was applying ice packs to my neck and wrists. I was able to finish out the show and they kept coming by to make sure I was okay. It all just proves again what I've always known....if there's a crisis, you can't beat being surrounded by "show people".

Jacki, I have searched the blog list for something about keeping cool, but found no results. Could you post a link to that item?
Thanks
Oh, my goodness! Talk about wonderful coincidences! I'm sure happy for you that you are okay and have no more outdoor shows to do! Art show people are awesome!
Yes, next year the neck coolers! Crosby is the only show I'm willing to do outdoors so at least I don't have any more of this awful heat this summer to deal with.
Wow Cassandra - glad you're okay!
Glad you had the nurses on hand...and ice packs too! I have started to carry those "neck coolers" in my luch/drink cooler...been a godsend for me!
Thank goodness for nurses that are willing to help out when needed. My hubby was at a track meet and ate a hot dog with some turkey in it. I immediately started looking for Benadryl. A nurse came and would not leave my hubby because she was afraid his throat would close.
The heat can be a killer, too. Have you ever checked out our blog post on keeping cool at shows? Someone just posted it again last week I think. Go through it. You may discover some good ideas to try for your next show.
