Several years ago I did this show when the booths were free. We chose to be on the lake and not in the garage. The promoters were very organized and cordial. The patrons who I met were not art savvy nor were they curious. Perhaps they responded differently to three-dimensional work. There was a booth with silver jewelry and they seemed to want to look at that. Once can hope that the crowd has changed since then. It is a tough audience yet the show goes on.
Thanks. The promoter approached me at another show and said she had a few "inside" spaces left. I don't have a show that weekend but don't want to lose money, either.
I have gone to it a few times an artist friend of mine sold at it about 4 years ago... My thoughts... Lots of art to shop from. The layout is a bit odd - artists are all over the place. The garage is pretty dark - not great if you have a booth and do not use electric for lighting. It did bring crowds - the times I have gone it was pretty hot. Sales I heard weren't wonderful, but that was during the market crashing and all - whose to say how sales will be this year. I like it, I don't do it as I have other shows going on during that time.
I did it last year. I had a space in the parking garage. It was very hot there. I only made $200 gross. If I ever did it again, I would only do it if I could be outside and not in the parking garage. I did not hear of many making much. It had very few people in attendance. It threatened to rain most of the weekend. Organizers are great though. Hope this helps.
