If anyone is looking for a new show to try that has a promoter who actually seems to be doing her job, you might try to get into the Athens Holiday Show. I know it is closed to jewelry, but if you have some good gift items, you may want to contact the show. There are huge billboards up in Athens and her media package on her website looks good. I know we are all struggling now and hate to try new shows, but I was at a Howard Alan Show last weekend that is "established" and it was awful. Old worn out market. I'm going to try some new areas this year. If you don't have to travel too far and you still need some sales this year, I'd sure give it a try...
Lynn (the promoter) isn't returning to Athens this year. The show last year didnt do well at all. There were several other events going on in the area and even Lynn herself was disappointed with the show. The photographer across from us packed up and didn't even show up on Sunday. I know the rum cake lady did well. There wasn't a patron in the Classic Center that I didn't see with those darn little cakes.
So how did this show go? The promoter used to do a market in St.Augustine. A friend of mine was going up to Athens for the show and cancelled. lynn is now promoting a weekday show (Dec. 2011) in St.Augustine after Christmas. Pretty pricey for a weekday show, though. I'd like to know if you will return to Athens this year and were the sales good?
My hubby is doing this show. The promoter is really nice. We met her at the neptune arts festival in VA> We are crossing our fingers and hoping for the best.
Sorry...the show is in Athens, GA. Home of the University of GA. The show can be found on holidayshowsinc.com It is being held the weekend before Thanksgiving. I know it is last minute, but I heard she can still add some spaces, but she is keeping it small. All inside!
