Amethyst has been considered a semiprecious stone since an abundance of the crystal mineral was found in Brazil in the 19th century. Before that is was considered a precious stone. Amethyst is a quartz mineral and comes in various shades of purple. The natural occurrence of manganese in quartz gives Amethyst its purple hue.A Pearl is a hard object made in the soft tissues of a shelled mollusk. Pearls are generally made up of calcium carbonate in the form of the mineral aragonite. The aragonite is held together by a horn-like compound called conchiolin. The Pearl is formed over time when an irritant is introduced to the mollusk or oyster and the organism covers the irritant in the aragonite and conchiolin compounds. The thinner the layers the more metallic and lushes the pearl will be. The most sought after pearls are wild, perfectly round pearls. Though most pearls sold today are cultured pearls, meaning they are still made within a mollusk or oyster, but that the irritant that starts the pearl being made is started by man, these are still considered real. There are many fake pearls out on the market, but generally lack luster and look plastic like.Copper is pure metallic element that is malleable and has a warm brown tone.
