I work with 11 different cuts of wood, each going through a 21 step process to complete a knife “set” with matching wood grain characteristics. Among the several steps of the process, wood stock is cut to fit jigs, sets are matched, measured and bonded. Each set is formed by belt sanding then hand sanded with 80, 150,220,400,800 grit then 2000 extra fine steel wool. To save the integrity of wood piece pins/rivets are inserted internally. Handles are bonded with industrial strength adhesive. Sets are then finished with five (5) coats of marine spar, each coat dried and buffed for a durable gloss finish.
