What are the best things about art fairs
some of the best things about doing art fairs is bringing your original creations to the public and seeing the reaction and positive feedback to what you love to do. and actually selling your art work to people that truly appreciate artisians and will give their hard earned money to buy one of my original paintings.
Best show ever and why
my best show ever was in texas, where i am from, and the major newspaper wrote an article on me and i had a huge color spread of my work on the friday before the show. saturday morning i had sold $7,000.00 by 11 o'clock am! and the rest well you can imagine $$$$ and the place was crazy with enthusiasm over my work! the newspaper write up brought people there just to see me and they purchased! it was great to say the least:)
Worst show ever and why
my worst show ever was here in florida, it was may hot as hell and mother's day weekend, sold practically nothing didn't make expenses by sunday. a freak storm was brewing early afternoon and the promoters came around and said that we might want to prepare for some wind. well by 2pm everyone was told we could pack if wanted and by the time everyone had moved in their vans and was blocking me from getting close to pack up..oh and it's pouring by now, and i mean pouring. i go to my neighbor artist and help him load a good deal of his work and by this time you can hear the rain and wind to start and really tear up the show. i looked accross the to my booth and behind it is a huge wall of water coming straight at us!! i ran and ducked under my booth and my fellow artist came to help me hold down my booth. the wind picked us up and my entire booth several times we could hear so many things crashing around us. it was terrifying and that went on for arounf 45 minutes (many things i'm leaving out like the bravery of my fellow neighbor to leave his booth and help me) finally the wind died down and right next to my booth was canopy twisted around a light pole and and on top of someone's van! art and destruction was all around us and we were in 2 feet of water! well, to make it even worse the committee had completely left and later wrote a letter stating that they were walking their dog not three blocks away and everything was fine where they were! ecuse me is that all you have to say? no i will never ever go back. some people lost all their artwork, their canopy and and were even injured and that is all the committee had to say!
