Years in the Art Fair Business

First show ever
When I was in high school in northern California I participated in sidewalk shows at local shopping centers and first discovered the thrill of having someone pay for one of my paintings. Some 40 years later, painting again, I was in the one-day Bethany Beach Boardwalk Art Festival and had a wonderfully successful experience selling paintings.
What are the best things about art fairs
Interaction with people that would never otherwise see you art; Getting first hand personal feedback and reaction to your work; making someone's life better with art; making a bit of income.
Best show ever and why
Bethany Beach Boardwalk Art Festival. My first show in years (three years ago) and in one day I sold close to 20 of original paintings - what a morale boost! Great weather, great location and atmosphere, great volume of people and plenty or art-buying going on!
Worst show ever and why
Frederick art festival. In mid-June it had to be 90+ degrees and equally unbearable humidity, no breeze, very little traffic and nobody buying art, then it rained.
