What are the best things about art fairs
getting exposure to my work....meeting other artists..... making $!
Best show ever and why
My best show yet was "ArtStreet" in green bay WI, 2010. One of the reasons I think I did so well was because I was new to the show that year, and it's an event that everyone attends. The customers are appreciative and educated re. the arts. At one point I was so busy my husband had to take people paying cash and I had to take people paying w/ CC's. The booth fee was reasonable, the hotels were nearby and priced right, and the local places to eat were cheap! Great show for me!
Worst show ever and why
It's a toss up. My first year I made the mistake of booking a local show w/ the word "craft" in the title. (Riverfront Days in Hastings MN) Someone was actually selling tupperware there. The other show was more arty but still had too many crafty things. That was in Nisswa MN. To be fair, it poured rain all day and it was a 1 day show. I sold 2 items. If it wasn't for a woman who wanted to make some wholesale purchases from me, I wouldn't have broken even w/ booth, hotel and travel.
