Your Medium
One of a kind jewelry and photo-fiber collage (my photographs printed on canvas and stitched to fabric backgrounds embellished with free motion machine embroidery).
Years in the Art Fair Business
I was a public school art teacher for 20+ years and did occasional shows & open studio invitations. Have been doing shows and festivals on a more regular basis since early 2009.
First show ever
Can't remember!
What are the best things about art fairs
Meeting other artists, seeing what others are creating, and meeting customers who connect with, and appreciate, my work.
Best show ever and why
In 2013, a local arts collective invited me to participate as a guest in a one day show. I was busy all day and did better in 6 hours than my best 3 day show of the year; a show I had been very pleased with.
Worst show ever and why
A show in SC. Wind & rain that ripped my tent top off and almost carried the heavily weighted frame into the waterway, wonderful compliments but slow sales, and chain-smoking neighbors (why do I always seem to be placed next to chain smokers?!) aggravating my allergies.

What is one fun fact about yourself?
I lived in Asia for 5 years and was able to travel to places I never would have, otherwise, had the opportunity to see.

Hi Becky, thanks for writing- I replied directly to your website, rather than thru AFI this time.
Welcome to ArtFairInsiders, Becky. I'm pleased to see you here and look forward to having you as part of our community.
When you have a chance, please add a photo of yourself and stop by the Discussions" area to introduce yourself to the rest of us. We all look forward to your participation here. Many topics have already been discussed here before you joined us. You might like to try a search of your topic before you post your question. Just put your topic, canopy tents, jurying fees, Ann Arbor Art Fair, etc, into the search bar at the top of the right side of the page. You might be surprised that someone has already asked your question.
We also ask that all new members take a few moments of their time to read the code of conduct. You will find it at http://www.artfairinsiders.com/page/code-of-conduct. There are a few guidelines that all members will need to follow because , as in any social community, we all need to work together.
Best wishes,
Connie Mettler
p.s. The best way to make this system easy to use is to click on the "Follow-Email me" link at the bottom of each Forum discussion that interests you. That way the system will email you automatically whenever anyone responds. It's a great time-saver.
