What are the best things about art fairs
Meet other artists. Talk art and get or give advice. Enjoy the art and sites. Buy good art. Possibly winning money or prizes. Good punch.
Best show ever and why
2001: Mount Saint Mary's Senior Exhibition. Included installation pieces and other various artwork. In my senior project was an installation piece where I went through all of my current school-notes and ripped out all the "aside-drawings" (or by standard terms, "doodles"). I tacked up all these "aside-drawings" on the gallery wall, thus representing each individual “doodle” as one unique piece in & of itself. This could have been a subconscious political expression of quantity - as opposed to quality - but I made sure that each little doodle I displayed had some quality, even though most of them weren’t so big in size. This installation piece was partly inspired by such artists as Charles Simonds who creates tiny-scale building-sculptures.
Worst show ever and why
BEST IN SHOW for Pencil Drawing, Hampton High School Senior Artists’ Juried Exhibition 1997...I wasnt there to accept the ribbon because I felt a junior varsity baseball game to be of more importance. I found out I had won by walking through the art a few days after the reception & saw the ribbon next to my piece.
