Years in the Art Fair Business
20 - see below
First show ever
Powderhorn 1991. I founded Powderhorn Art Fair in '91 and co-managed it for three years. In '93 it was rated the #62 outdoor fine art fair in the country by Sunshine Artist. After a 17 year "rest" I returned to the management committee in Jan., '11 to help ease the fair into it's 3rd decade.
What are the best things about art fairs
Our mission has to do with promoting the uniqueness of our unique and artistic inner-city neighborhood to the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area.
Best show ever and why
Powderhorn, 1993. We received a CUE (Committee on Urban Environment) award from Minneapolis. We had 135 artists, 10 "mini-stages," 110 hours of continuous acoustical entertainment, and interesting local restaurant food. We do not allow any corporate sponshoships. And we return all net profits ($20,000+/-) to our neighborhood park for arts and sport programming.
