What are the best things about art fairs
New eyes on your works. Collecting new collectors.
Best show ever and why
Paradise City. Super amazing artists. Quality of work is top notch. Artist amenities provided by the promoters are very good. Host hotel available for artists on the grounds of the exhibition center. Knowledgeable educated sophisticated public. Best show for high end purchases.
Worst show ever and why
Park Avenue Festival. 2012. This show turns into a madhouse at night. Drunken College kids roam the streets and have damaged various vendors booths. The public can be good in the mornings, but as the day wears on, the street is a sea of people streaming by. 2012 was my last appearance at this show. It seems the artists are being largely replaced with commercial vendors, food based booths, food trucks and buy/sell vendors. There are artists here and I still believe it’s a great place for any new art business to get “their feet wet” in the art fair business. A word of caution. Do not leave your easily stolen art works in your booth overnight. It’s a gamble. You may have fewer pieces there in the morning when you return or damage to your booth. This show does have security overnight, but not nearly enough in this setting. In many instances, it’s easy to enter booths from the back after security carts go by.

What is one fun fact about yourself?
I see faces in everything. Clouds, wood grain, trees, stone...you name it and there’s probably a face there. #iseefaces
