First show ever

Cloud Productions Holiday Show at the Toledo Rec Center in 2012

What are the best things about art fairs

The compliments from customers about my work and how much it seems to make them happy! The other crafters and artists I meet -- some of whom have become good friends. That I make enough money to continue to make the jewelry and small gifts I love making.

Best show ever and why

Toledo Craftsman's Guild Lourdes Holiday Show, 2014. It was the first time I sold over $1,000 in one day and was busy non-stop from the time the doors opened until they closed 7 hours later.

Worst show ever and why

This small show out in the country in a barn -- it was a church-sponsored show (one of my firsts.) I can't even remember the name of it. 4 hours into the show I had not sold a thing and was getting really depressed. A man came by and offered to buy 2 necklaces at half price ($20) which paid the show fee -- so I accepted it, closed down, and laughed with my daughter who had come to help me all the way home about how many pies sold for $25 each but that no one wanted to spend even $5 on jewelry!!

  • Hello Maria,

Welcome to Art Fair Insiders!  We're delighted to have you join us here and hope you'll take advantage of everything the site has to offer.  I was actually born in Toledo but grew up in southeast Michigan, not too far from where I live today.  You have a terrific zoo and museum there, as you know, which we hope to visit again someday.  Thanks for signing up and continued success.
