First show ever
Was at a shopping mall. What an eye opener! I started out in jewelry, now I create hangings using mostly recycled driftwood/manzanita and stained glass, beads, bevels, wire and various other materials. I can be much more creative and very few people do what I do.
What are the best things about art fairs
The people I get to meet, of course! Learning, learning, and learning all the time! The excitement of seeing all the creativity of the other artists and being in midst of it all.
Best show ever and why
Our first show at the OddFellows Hall in Davis, CA. It was so busy and we just kept selling and selling our art! People loved our art! It was so humbling! To have someone say what they like about something I took so much care about making and then they pay good money for it! That day was very special to me.
Worst show ever and why
Not sure I have ever had one. I have had shows where I haven't sold, but I have always had fun, learned something, and met interesting people, Oh wait, one show was a block away from about 5,000 people and the person who coordinated the show wouldn't direct any of the crowd to us...so we had to make our own signs and remove the blockades from the driveway to where we were. That was an experience! We still had fun, though!
Who referred you to ArtFairInsiders.com? Please be specific.
Google...I was looking for Art Shows and your site came up. I love it so far. Although I wish it could be more area specific...west coast vs mid-west vs east coast, at least for the call to artists. Otherwise, its great!

Hi Liz. Yes, there is a lot of East Coast/Midwest/Florida info here and just about every week I get a question about more from the West -- this site is open to all and if you folks from the West don't join in, the West info will not happen here. As best I know there isn't anything else online that approximates what is happening here, so it would be in your best interest to get on and get in and share and ask questions. You might even start a discussion on the question or start a West Coast Group (groups near the bottom of the page.) I do some work with Western shows -- La Quinta, Mill Valley, etc.
Welcome to ArtFairInsiders.com, Liz. I'm pleased to see you here and look forward to having you as part of our community.
When you have a chance, please add a photo of yourself and stop by the "Discussions" area to introduce yourself to the rest of us. We all look forward to your participation here. Also, visit the "member map" and add your location. We have a lot to offer one another, experienced and newbie alike. Let's make this a dynamic site!
Many topics have already been discussed here before you joined us. You might like to try a search of your topic before you post your question. Just put your topic, canopy tents, jurying fees, Ann Arbor Art Fair, etc, into the search bar at the top of the right side of the page. You might be surprised that someone has already asked your question.
We also ask that all new members take a few moments of their time to read the code of conduct. You will find it at http://www.artfairinsiders.com/page/code-of-conduct. There are a few guidelines that all members will need to follow because , as in any social community, we all need to work together.
Best wishes,
