About

Location

Staten Island, NY

Your Medium

Hand-crafted art jewelry utilizing rare, antique and vintage European artglass and brass.

Years in the Art Fair Business

38+ years originally selling antique furniture, smalls, vintage clothing, fine antique jewelry and my own hand-crafted jewelry

First show ever

The earliest I can remember is the 1972 Atlantic Antic Street Fair in Brooklyn, N.Y. Back then, it was primarily an antiques street fair organized by the many antique store owners with shops on Atlantic Avenue.

What are the best things about art fairs

I love the enthusiasm and appreciation the customers have for my work. I also like that they are interested in learning about the history of the art glass, rhinestones and brass filigrees I use in my designs. What is especially nice is the regard the artisians have for each other's work. I sometimes think we are our best customers!

Best show ever and why

This past January our local newpaper, the Staten Island Advance, ran an article about my jewelry and the art glass I use in my designs. My next fair in March, the juried arts and crafts fair at the Alice Austen House Museum, had to be the best show I have had in many years. I already had a strong following in Staten Island and North Bergen County in N.J. (I have been doing Antique shows and Craft Fairs in NJ for about 25 yrs with PJ's Promotions), but the local article really made a difference both in my sales and repeat customers.

Worst show ever and why

The Nyack, N.Y. Street Fair this past May. The fair was innundated with buy and sell jewelry and schlock. By the time the customers got to the one block of real hand-crafted art work and jewelry, they were too bleary-eyed to even look at our work. If it wasn't for my regular customers, the show would have been a total disaster.

Who referred you to ArtFairInsiders.com? Please be specific.

I was looking at the Cranford NJ website for craft shows I could do and saw a review of one of the fairs on your website
